Wide open all you want on the squid from 5-20 lbs, we had it call it quits in 2 hours after we plugged every hole in the boat and the filled the deck! There were two fleets last night one right in front of Newport and the other out near the Newport canyon buoy. The best setup last night was the Ahi SJ-175-3H 14 oz squid jigs with a Promar LED Light Stick or Strobe Light. It was instant as soon as you hit the water as the squid were keyed in on the strobe lights. The larger grade squid were hitting the SJ-1000 24 oz jigs with a strobe light fished deep.
