I believe that our planet's most spectacular and ecologically important treasures deserve to be open to the public. That's why I need your help before the southern California's coast is closed.

As you may know, California is in the process of creating marine protected areas (MPAs) along our coast. Recently, the Blue Ribbon Task Force, a group of academic and business leaders, recommended a preferred plan for Southern California.

We need your help in voicing opasittion for this plan:

1. Send a message to voice your opposition for this plan to take away public lands.

2. Make a huge difference by attending the hearing on December 9th at the LAX Raddision in Los Angeles.

Message :	Dear California Fish & Game Commissioners, In regards to your December 9, and 10, 2009 meeting with the Blue Ribbon Task Force, I am writing to oppose adoption of recommendations of the Blue Ribbon Task Force in implementing the MLPA for the following reasons. First, the MLPA requires the final recommendation to be a result of consensus of ALL stakeholders. The recommendation adopted by the BRTF rejected the efforts of many months of work of all the stakeholders and effected groups/communities in creating a sustainable and workable MLPA conservation zone plan. Instead, the BRTF seized the moment to completely ignore the guidelines of the MLPA that requires the consensus of ALL STAKEHOLDERS by presenting a hare-brained closure plan of their own design. This arrogant end around the California Constitution provisions that guarantee access to the ocean and it's resources, flies in the face of even the environmental impact reports that have been written on this issue. Second, there is no basis for the BRTF to even be considered as a entity to be considered as a stakeholder other than as a thinly veiled maneuver to hijack the adoption process as guaranteed by the MLPA itself. This is a very serious matter before you to consider and the manner in which each will be viewed in your decision to consider the BRTF recommendation. To allow this hijacking of California residents constitutional right to access the ocean and it's recourses would be the worst and most blatant give away to special interests in the history of the state of California. That is a terrible distinction considering the horror forced upon California residents by the hair-brained electricity deregulation fiasco and giveaway to ENRON and it's band of thieves. But, this scheme concocted by the BRTF is even worse in its Constitutional issues and implications. I am asking you to reject the BRTF and to instead adopt the plan of the working group that implements a viable that allows the Constitutional protections to remain in effect and creates a limited take plan with DFG enforcement and oversight. This is a preferred and conservative design that will be in accord with the MLPA, and will allow for future generations to enjoy access to all of California's ocean bounty. This will guarantee that residents will be accorded the right to subsistence fishing for their families while prohibiting commercial interests from depleting the ocean's bounty within the protected zones of the MLPA.
