Funnel Cake

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and granulated sugar.

  2. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and then stir in the milk and vanilla extract.

  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until the batter is smooth and there are no lumps.

  4. Heat the oil in a deep fryer or heavy-bottomed pot over medium-high heat to 375°F.

  5. Once the oil is hot, pour the batter into a funnel or squeeze bottle. You can also use a plastic bag with the corner cut off.

  6. Hold the funnel or bottle close to the surface of the oil and slowly drizzle the batter into the oil, moving in a circular motion to create a spiral shape.

  7. Fry the funnel cake for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown.

  8. Remove the funnel cake from the oil with tongs or a slotted spoon and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain off any excess oil.

  9. Dust the funnel cake with powdered sugar and serve warm.

Enjoy your delicious and crispy funnel cake!
